In these Terms & Conditions: "Hirer" means the person or organisation placing the order; "Costumes" means all items of clothing and accessories hired from Costume House Hire; "Hire Period" means the period from the day we post the Costumes to the day we receive the return.
The Hire Period is for the day we POST the Costumes until the day we RECEIVE the return.
To return your order, if you have selected return postage you will be emailed a QR code prior to your return date. Simply present this QR code at your nearest DPD drop-off point - no printing required. To find your nearest drop-off location, click here.
We use DPD to post orders. We reserve the right to use an alternative courier service at our discretion, provided any such change does not result in a reduction to the delivery standard or timescale offered to the Hirer. Once an order has been dispatched and a tracking number issued, responsibility for delivery timescales passes to the courier. Costume House Hire shall not be liable for any delay, loss, or failure in delivery caused by the courier service or any circumstances outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to postal strikes, operational delays, or adverse weather. Delivery dates are estimates only and are not guaranteed. No refunds or compensation will be issued for delays caused by the courier once an order has been dispatched. We strongly recommend ordering Costumes in plenty of time to allow for any unforeseen delays.
All images on our website are for illustrative purposes only and may not reflect the current condition of the Costumes. As these are hire Costumes, they are not new and will have been worn previously. As a result, minor imperfections may be present - such as slight variations in sequins, tassels, or trimmings - including small pulls, minor repairs, or occasional missing embellishments. These do not affect the performance suitability of the Costumes and are consistent with the nature and pricing of hire, rather than purchase. At typical performance distances, such imperfections are not visible to an audience. By placing an order, the Hirer accepts that Costumes are supplied in hire condition and that minor wear of this nature does not constitute damage or grounds for a refund.
Upon receipt, the Hirer must inspect all Costumes and notify us of any discrepancy or damage within 24 hours. Failure to do so means the Costumes are deemed to have been received in satisfactory condition.
The Hirer is responsible for the Costumes from the moment they leave our depot until they are received back by us. This includes all times the Costumes are not on our premises and in our possession.
Costumes are hired for performance and theatrical use only. They may not under any circumstances be used as fancy dress or for parties. Where Costumes are used outdoors or at a venue where food or drink is being consumed, the Hirer must act responsibly to avoid any damage. Costumes must not be used during wet weather or any outside conditions that may result in damage.
Stage blood may not be used on the Costumes under any circumstances.
Costumes must not be modified, altered, distressed, or broken down in any way. Labels and tags must not be removed.
Any Costumes lost or damaged - we shall contact the Hirer and offer the chance to return or replace.
If no Costume or replacement is received within 7 days, the Hirer's payment card will be automatically charged the full retail price.
Damage also refers to fake tan stains.
A late returns fee of 50p per Costume per day will be automatically charged for late returns.
The Hirer is able to make changes to their order up to 30 days before the Costumes are due to be posted, after which any changes are subject to availability.
Make sure to pack the returns appropriately.
The Hirer is responsible for any loss or damage to Costumes in transit on return.
The Hirer has 14 days after placing an order in which to cancel, as long as the start date is more than 7 days later.
If different start dates are required, please place multiple orders and pay shipping for each start date, otherwise the whole order will be posted for the latest start date chosen.
Orders take a minimum of 48 hours to process. If an order is placed for a start date before this, the order won't be shipped until processing is completed.
Orders placed for a weekend or bank holiday start date will be changed to the next working day.

Unfortunately we currently cannot post to Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands or Islands, due to high postage costs.
We will store any data entered into our website for three years.
